Wellness Wednesday with The Earth Kitchen

CONNECT WITH THE EARTH KITCHEN

Q. What inspired you to start The Earth Kitchen?

A. Ultimately, I love creating in the kitchen - creating recipes is my form of art, so it wasn’t so much if people saw it at first. But as I delved more into making content, I realize that there’s a growing community for local plant-based food & living consciously - holistically and (also) ethically. I felt it would be a great opportunity to expand what I am learning to help people who are just starting off a plant based lifestyle and share easy, digestible information for them to follow.

Q. Do you have any advice for those looking to start cooking at home more often?

A. Start with what you like to eat and research on how can you make it from home. Also, good food can be affordable, accessible, and it doesn’t need to be hard to create! There’s so much recipes to follow, that you can try. If you feel overwhelmed by just starting - simplify it to what YOU want to make or are familiar with.

Q. What are your favorite recipes right now?

A. I love easy 30-minute meals that will fill me up during busy days. I love any food inspirations from vegan bloggers like @frommybowl & @thekoreanvegan. It’s also “fall” season so, I’m all about with pumpkin/chai spiced baked goodies and pasta recipes.

Q. What is your recommendation for an easy kitchen swap to make comfort food healthier?

A. Simply add more fruits and vegetables into your habits, with the existing diet you may already have. Most importantly, experiment with plant-based alternatives once a day, or a few times a week. That could be easy swaps from picking plant milk over dairy milk or choosing legumes in your meals in substitution for meat/animal products. Also, challenge yourself. What is one favorite dish you love and can easily turn plant-based and go from there!

Q. What are some benefits of plant based nutrition?

A. By simply adding more wholesome plant-based foods into your diet (such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains reduces the risk of non-communicable diseases) and, increases longevity. Overall, practicing to eat a balanced plant-based diet will not only make you feel good physically, but mentally, it will also follow through with better mood and energy levels.
