Wellness Wednesday with GUAM PELVIC REHAB

CONNECT WITH GUAM PELVIC REHAB

Q: What inspired you to start Guam Pelvic Rehab?

A: I was inspired to start teaching Prepare for Birth workshops by all the women I have worked with as a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. I feel that if women are better informed and prepared physically for birth, we can improve birthing and postpartum outcomes.

Q. What is your mission?

A. To empower women to be more confident and less fearful about the labor and delivery journey.

Q. Tell us more about what you offer

A. I’m a pelvic health Physical Therapist. I work with women and men experiencing pelvic health concerns related to bladder, bowel and sexual function. This might be urinary leakage, pain with sex, pain anywhere in the pelvis or genitals, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, among many other diagnoses . I also work with women during pregnancy for all the aches and pains as well as pelvic health concerns and in the postpartum period for rehabilitation to return to activity, perineal tears, c-section scar concerns, just to name a few!

Q. What are you most excited about right now?

A. Reaching as many people as possible to let them know that there is help here on Guam for pelvic health issues; that leakage and pain with sex are common but never normal; that they can heal from a traumatic birth; that a prolapse diagnosis doesn't mean you have to stop exercising; that pain is not a prerequisite of pregnancy.

Q. What’s your wellness motto?

A. Build muscle before menopause, lift weights and get strong!
