Wellness Wednesday with Health City

CONNECT WITH HEALTH CITY

Q. What inspired you to start Health City?

A. I lived in the mainland most of my life and when I moved to Guam, I wanted my friends and the people of Guam to get access to all the top leading brands of supplements I enjoyed while living in the mainland which eventually inspired me to open Health City.

Q. What is your mission?

A. Our mission is to provide the people of Guam and the CNMI a central place to shop for essential vitamins and nutritional supplements to live a healthier lifestyle.

Q. Tell us more about what you do.

A. Health City has grown over the last 5 years from a small supplement store to a one-stop-shop for health, wellness and fitness. We now offer services like the InBody 570 Body Composition Analysis, as a distributor for SBD Apparel (SBD Guam) and exercise equipment, wholesale and distribution for a line of alternative snacks and beverages, and our latest addition - Scoop Me Up Bar (SMU Bar) where we offer protein shakes, smoothies and protein acai bowls.

Q. Is there anything your team is excited about right now?

A. We are super excited for what this year has in store for us with a number of big events lined up like the GPF (Guam Powerlifting Federation) Summer Showdown Powerlifting Meet and Ina Well Fest both in July. Most of us are also competing in Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, and Jiu Jitsu competitions this year.

Q. What is your wellness motto?

A. "It's never too late to start" - Most people think of age as a barrier and once they reach a certain age, they can no longer be stronger and healthier than they were at a younger age. Many people also disregard wellness until they start having health issues. Rather than only thinking of health and wellness when treating illness or diseases, we need to promote a more proactive approach to health and focusing more on preventative care. Wellness is adopting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress, and building a healthy relationship with our mind and body no matter where we are in life.

Stay tuned for Health City at our 2nd Annual Ina Well Fest!
